The subject of the masters. Many famous artist took on the challenge of portrait painting and the good ones could bring the portrait to life with a few brush strokes. To achieve likeness of the subject it often requires precision, understanding of human anatomy, knowledge of value and good drawing skills. Knowledge and experience properly mixing color and applying brushstrokes can get you one step closer to mastery.
Since I was a child I’ve loved to draw and paint my friends and family. I was pretty good in high school winning several awards but til this day I’ve continued to try to get better and will spend my career in search of mastery. Starting mostly in pastels I developed my early skills and in recent years I’ve been developing my skills in oils and acrylics. I discovered that pastels were a great teacher for my current oil paintings.
